Learn the skills to teach your dog to negotiate the fun obstacles of agility!
Beginning Pet Dog Agility will introduce you and your dog to the fun of agility. Using positive reinforcement methods, your dog will learn how to complete the various agility obstacles, such as jumps, tunnels, teeter-totters, and other contact items. We will also begin some sequencing (your dog learning to do multiple obstacles in a given run) and you will learn the fundamentals to build on with future agility classes. In this rewarding dog-person team sport, you, as a handler, learn how to communicate effectively with your dog and give your dog a fun and creative outlet for its energy.
Beginning Pet Dog Agility is 6-weeks long, each session lasts approximately 50 minutes. Dogs attend every session with you and/or your entire family. This class is for all sizes and all ages of dogs over 1 year old that have completed a Beginning and Intermediate Manners & Obedience for Dogs (or the equivalent)! A recommended prerequisite is our Obedience for Dog Sports class. You will be required to provide proof of current, age appropriate vaccinations.**The Canine Influenza Virus has recently reached the Bay Area. Please read through our Vaccinations and Behavioral & Health Appropriateness sections of our Group Dog Class Rules and Policies for more information!
