An introduction to one of the fastest-growing dog sports in the U.S.
Flyball is a relay race for dogs, racing two teams at a time with four dogs each. Each dog must go over 4 hurdles to a spring-loaded box loaded with a tennis ball. He must retrieve the tennis ball then return over the 4 hurdles, back to his handler. As each dog returns over the start/finish line, the next dog goes out for his turn. The first 4-dog team to complete the course without errors wins the heat.
In this 6-week course, you and your dog will be introduced to the fundamentals of flyball, including jumping the hurdles and learning to trigger the flyball box. You will also learn handling techniques and ways in which to motivate your dog on the course.
Beginning Flyball is 6-weeks long, each session lasts approximately one hour. Dogs attend every session with you and/or your entire family. This class is for well-socialized, healthy/athletic and not overweight dogs that have completed an Intermediate Manners & Obedience for Dogs (or the equivalent) or have approval of the class instructor! Dogs must have a reliable off-leash recall and enjoy retrieving a tennis ball! A recommended prerequisite is our Obedience for Dog Sports class. You will be required to provide proof of current, age appropriate vaccinations. Click here to review all our group dog class rules and policies.
The one-time class fee covers all six classes! You and your dog can feel great knowing that a portion of your training class fees benefit the homeless animals in our community!
