Applying to becoming a volunteer is easy
- Attend “Experience Humane Society Silicon Valley - Meet, Greet, and Tour” This is a behind the scenes tour of the shelter and informational meeting to give you details about our past and what the future holds for HSSV! Please note that you must sign up for Experience Humane Society Silicon Valley - Meet, Greet, and Tour on our online calendar.
- Pick up the volunteer application at the end of Experience Humane Society Silicon Valley - Meet, Greet, and Tour. Fill out the application using the descriptions from the "Volunteer Job Descriptions" section on the website. (Please review the descriptions carefully to review training and time commitment for each of the volunteer positions to decide which position(s) you would be most interested.)
- Finally mail your application to:
Humane Society Silicon Valley
901 Ames Avenue
Milpitas, CA 95035
Once we receive your application it will be reviewed. If your interest and availablity match our current need you will be notified via email. This email will direct you to an online calendar where you can register for an upcoming General Volunteer Orientation.
We'll review your application to learn more about your interests and availability, and contact you to discuss our current needs. HSSV relies on volunteers so there are always many opportunities to help! We will work with you individually to help you find a role that is a good match. Then, you'll receive instructions about your volunteer orientation.
Please Note: You must be 18 years or older to become a volunteer and be ready to commit to 8-10 hours per month for a minimum of one year. There is a $40 materials fee. This fee allows us to provide your volunteer t-shirt, badge, lanyard, and general printed materials without taking any money away from the support of the animals in our care.
